Dr. Chris Kimball, President at California Lutheran University, visits the 1.Question Podcast to discuss the importance of athletics at CLU. Dr. Kimball discusses how the connection between academics and athletics is essential to a college campus. He talks about the process of educating the whole person – academically, physically, and spiritually – stressing the point that if you strengthen and grow in one area, it helps with the other areas as well. Kimball also mentions that while it isn’t mentioned directly in CLU’s strategic plan, athletics plays a big part in the plan’s implementation throughout campus. Serving on the D3 Management Council, Kimball also discusses how serving with this group has expanded his thoughts on the complexities and importance of operating intercollegiate athletics around the country.
